Hi veryone,

I'm newbie in the DVD world...I woulk like to have some advice from you guys...I want to buy a DVDR burner in order to backup my original DVDs movies under 4.7GB, cause my brother messed up lots of my DVD movies, so I want him to use the copies on DVDR (if possble). Is it possbile to copy on the fly DVD to DVD with PrimoDVD or other prog without passing by a ripping process? if so, can it play on a regular DVD Player? and which one is the best Pionneer, HP or Philipps?
Where can I buy apple DVDRs in the Washington DC Metro Area?
or just unbranded DVDRS working fine for movies? unlike Ps2 need a good media...

Thnks guys in advance for the answer...

You cannot do a 1:1 copy of a DVD because of the protection. It will need to be ripped to your computer first. You can use any media for video. Media from this website looks decent and cheap:

I have the pioneer a03 and it is great. I would reccommend it.

MATTYYYYYYYYY, can you please explain precisely which software did you copy 1 to 1 DVD to DVDR?
Is that with PrimoDVD, Nero, Clone cd or something else?
If it's really work, did you try DVD Karaoke, Music Video and Concert? they are mostly under 4.7 GB. So it should be done 1 to 1 without any problem?

Thnks...

You cant m simple,if you get a dvd movie and its say 4 gig (under4.7) you cant just do a 1-1 copy of it it has to be ripped to the hd first as they have macrovision on them you get a big green screen what you need is smartripper you just send it to the hd the proggy does all the other bits for ya then you burn the image onto a disc using prassi (primo) and it will work,if its a dual layered dvd9 disc say 7 gig you go to smartripper and hope that the movie size is less than 4.3 gig if it is you just have to a little jiggery pokery and its done only takes about 2hours ALL in if the movie size is bigger than 4.3 gig then thats when it gets time consuming like 10 hours.

READ ALL OF THE NEWBIE GUIDE AT THE TOP IT TELLS YOU HOW TO DO ANYTHING YOU ARE GOING TO DO ON A DVD.

cheers m8.

If the movie is less than 4.3 gigs can you use windows 98 or do you have to have XP?

What do you mean by the term rip? Is it just coping a movie to the hd?
