Hello I'm looking to buy a new cdrom..what specific brands/models are good? i want one that doesn't take much cpu power..the current one i have is kinda cheap..so i wanna get it replaced. im thinkin a creative labs one..im looking for a 52x or 56x. any suggestions?

If you want one that doesn't use much CPU power.. then get a SCSI one.

Anyway, I'm moving this to consumer's opinion.

if you gonna get a new drive why not go for a dvd drive the prices differance is not much at all and then you have the added options of watching dvd's . Just a thought

The LiteOn 52-6 CD-Rom drive is V good.

A lot of people inc myself favour the LiteOn Ltd-163 DVD drive for it's ability of fast OTF reading of audio, DAE.
