Been a while since I've been around... So busy at the moment.

Picked an old Ricoh MP7060A (6xwrite, 4xrewrite, 24xread) for b*gger all at the weekend.

Initially tried it - it read okay but failed when burning (even when doing a simulation). Updated the firmware to the latest version but didn't help.

Being a veteran of cleaning + fixing Philips CDD3610/HP7200i etc. I disassembled it, cleaned the lens, removed some of the dust and greased the guide rails.

Now it will write but it reads very poorly or not at all. (Won't even read discs it has burned but the disc reads fine in my Plextor 12/10/32A)

Any ideas?

Can't see how I've could have re-assembled it wrong.
Will try cleaning the lens again tomorrow once Ive got some more tape head cleaning fluid....

Best wishes to all the regulars (Hoss etc.)

Try distilled water rather than cleaning fluid. some cleaning fluids can leave a film on the laser lens. BTW I used to be an old hand at cleaning my HP 7100i. That has long since seen the land fill site though.

Tried cleaning it again. No good. It is an ex-burner - it has ceased to be.
