I have done a clean install on a friends PC of windows ME.
When we try to set up his internet, It cannot detect a modem installed on his system.

The shop that built it fitted an AMD K6-2 500 Mhz Processor, but when I checked The Bios, The motherboard was set for 166Mhz.
The shop has since gone bust, he got no Windows disk or manual with it.

Any help is greatly apreciated.

First, do you see any item(s) listed as Others with yellow ! next to it (them) in Device Manager? If you do, that's probably the modem and Windows just goes banana because it can't recognize the modem as there is no proper driver installed.

Do you know the make/model of the modem by any chance? You may find the information stamped on the modem card.

Hi, Van Nugent.
There are three things in device Manager that come up as yellow !
The problem with the modem is it is attatched to the Motherboard and not a seperate slot in modem.
I tried using the CDrom that he got with the computer, to load all his sound & graphics and stuff like that.

I am going today to have another look and will pass on any information.

If it's an on-board modem, try to get the mobo's make/model.

Also, please tell exactly what have yellow ! in Device Manager.

It's Working.
He found the modem driver disc
It wasn't with all the rest of his stuff.
Installed the driver and computer picked the modem up straight away.

Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.
