i have a slave hard drive 60 gb and since i`ve been away for a week,i can no longer access the hard drive,every time i try to explore etc the hard drive i keep getting the message up saying

disk is not formatted do you wish to format it now yes or no




i`ve tried all sorts to solve this,but no joy.

hav u tried formatting it. May hav been damaged/ wiped by heat or condensation or somthing.

When you say youve been away for a week. Does thie mean your PC has not been turned on, or its a PC used by many users?

If no one else has used it may of become physically dameged. If other people have used it they may have corrupted the data.

Do what TechieMC says and format it. Post back if that doesn't solve the problem.

Try different IDE channel, that may cure it, or at least to give you an idea whether is damaged or not.
