Is there any software that i can download that will bypass the protection of the dvds and allow me to back them up on vhs??

It all depends what you have in your PC. Do you have a software player (Power DVD, Win DVD, ATI Theatre etc) or a real hardware decoder? If you have a Hollywood Realmagic MPEG decoder then you can download free software to turn the Macrovision protection off so you can record to a VHS video via the S-video Out on your card. rip the DVD to ur hard drive using smartripper, this removes the region encoding & macrovision (copy protection) and play with powerDVD

or download DVD genie (free) to play DVDs with your normal DVD software and use genie to hack ur software so u can use multiple regions and remove macrovision
