When you are putting a VCD onto a DVD, is there anyway during the conversion that you can decide whether it will playback in 4:3 or 16:9 or is it best not to mess with that aspect ratio?

If the material is 16x9 and is black matted so that it will fit a 4x3 screen, and you have a 4x3 tv then you are better off just leaving it alone. If you have a widescreen TV then you might want to play with clipping the movie.

if it's a 4:3 presentation, there's no need for you to encode it in 16:9, it would get stretched and look odd. If it comes to it, you could always manually change your TV to 16:9 mode while it is playing and it would be the same as encoding it that way
