Can anyone tell me how to upgrade my bios (motherboard / graphics card) under windows XP Pro. As I understand it (not very well!) I need to be in true DOS mode, but windows XP Pro. Can only simulate DOS???

I’m having problems with my PC, crashes – displays 3-4 coloured bars on the screen…have to hit the power button! Tried lots of things, I’m hopping upgrading the bios settings might help. (I’ve got all the latest drivers)
Cheers

Upgrading the BIOS will only help if it is not XP compliant. You might be better off trying to repair your installation.

If you're going to flash your bios yes you need to be in dos mode. If you've got a Win98 boot disk then use that. If not have a look at www.bootdisk.com. There is a disk on there that is suitable for flashing.
You might have to reinstall XP after doing this anyway.
