 I've just realised that when I insert a disc into my LG DVD/CDRW drive windows does not read the disc, when I open up the drive I just get an empty folder. Its doing it to all disc formats (CDR, DVD, Audio etc). To read the disk I have to open up a third party program and read it from there, after which windows will read the disc as normal and the empty folder will populate itself.

If I put the disc into my other CDR drive (SCSI) it reads it normally and windows will show the files in a folder as usual. All other drives are working properly.

Anyone have any ideas on what could cause this and how to solve the problem?

When you insert a cd, it names it CD and the amount of space is wrong? A friend of mine had the same problem (with the Affrey DVD) ... Now it's working perfectly. Noone knows what happened...

Not the best solution but I have managed to populate the folder without rebooting windows. If you click on the CD Rom icon & goto properties you will get a dialogue box pop-up. Click on the hardware tab, select the drive from the list and click on the properties box. This opens up another dialogue box. Click on the volumes tap and click populate. The folder should populate in windows and all further dics inserts work as normal uptill the next reboot. I can't work out what is causing the problem if you find out please let me know. :clown:
