I have a 1800XP CPU, which means that when I try to boot into Windows 95 it locks up with a "windows protection error". I not have the "K6/2 350Mhz patch" from Microsoft, but how can I install it when I am unable to enter Windows 95? I can't underclock my proccessor, cus the FSB don't go that low, and its not an unlocked CPU. I have the files from the install program extracted to a seperate directory. Any way to install these files manually?

Windows 95 barely had USB support. It's Plug-N-Play functionality was not so developed. Most hardware vendors don't even write drivers for it anymore. And compared to the other M$ operating systems it was very unstable.
Why are you wasting your time with a 7 year old operating system? You have a brand new system, why not take advantage of it's capabilities and install a newer OS? That 1800XP processor is a waste under win95.

To install the patch, simply press F5 to enter safe-mode during Windows start-up, once in safe mode, you can run the patch to correct the timing problem.

QWERTY. I'm right into tweaking and messing around with my comp. At the mo I use WinXP/98SE/2K and a few Linii distros. I just wanted to mess around with 95 a little, cus I found a few progs lieing around from the olddy days.

Damn. Still can't access safe-mode. I can use DOS, if i know what files to move and what files to edit. How did people who reinstalled their system in the past install this patch?

I have done this many times, in Windows 95, when you see the message "Starting Windows 95 ...." Press F5, you will go into safe mode and then run the patch...

What I did in the past was simply keep rebooting until it boots into Windows - it will once in a while - then installed the patch. Just gotta be patient.
