Ok I need a new pc for work and some gaming but have ps2 for that so thats not the major issue

I've been looking at mesh, multivision, holly computers and evesham but so far mesh and, multivision seem to be the ones- are there any small custom builders who i've missed?

i was contemplating building my own but never done it before and using ebuyer to work it out i don't think i'm saving so much building my own as to make it worthwhile particularly as i reckon i'm running the risk of blowing something if i do it my self!!

Oh yeah whats the best operating systme to go for if i'm running big programs in c++/visual basic and maths based software?

Go to tigerdirect.com or accessmicro.com if you are looking to build your own system. They have great deals on everything you would need. I would suggest Linux.

Does running both xp and linux on the same machine cause major problems?

I tell friends and customers if you don't know about pc's pay the extra money and get a name on the box!!! But if you know about pc's get a pc with name brand parts inside from a show or a private company. The best pc for your money is one made from parts. Better quality parts and easier to upgrade later and you get more for your money!!! IMO!!!

i agree.Build that sucka from the ground up.Its just a better value in the end and easier to upgrade.Just look in your local newspapers for sales going on or sales on the net and get the pieces u want.

Its better to build your own PC its cheaper and you know what your adding because you can get ripped of sometimes if you buy from a proper retailer.
