I'm having a strange prob with my PC. It starts, power light comes on and fan, but thats really it, no bios checks or nothing. It doesnt dispay a thing, any idea what could be wrong and solutions

Not having much luck then !!

Start with the obvious, has it worked before and have you done anything to it / installed any hardware recently ?

Does it sound like the hard drive is spinning ? Take off the cover and make sure all the leads etc are firmly in place and also check BIOS to make sure the primary hard drive is set to auto detect.

Post back with any more information you can, history etc

its worked for a year, havnt changed anything, no new hardware, all leads seem ok. It doesnt go in to bios it just starts and hums. Floppy, CD-ROM dont even run, and i dont think its running the hard drive either

checked, hard drive does not seem to be running either, i doont think any of the devices are gettin any power???

Yep, sounds like a faulty power supply unit ! Does the power light still come on and the fan start (as per your original post) ?

As a last resort, you could strip everything out of the PC, re-fit everything and see what happens. I have seen a case once where a graphics card was not seated properly and this was causing the PC not to boot up.

the power light does come on and the fan i running, grahics card is builtinto motherboard

i've been told that over the past few days the pc has restarted by itself for no apparent reason and sometimes took longer before it started booting, afew seconds wait then the bios would show etc... I just switched it on and by the sound of it the fan seemed sluggish but ok after about a minute ten a little while later i think i heard some HD activity??????????/

Definitley sounds like faulty psu !!

ok ill try and get it replaced and if it doesnt work ill post back
