View Full Version : What is a Good Value External CD Writer? [Tinypc laptop; laptop; win98]

IM looking to buy a cd rewriter for under £100 hopefully , hopefully cheaper. I have usb ports and a pcmcia slot, but i dont have usb 2.0 . Does anyone know what is a good cd writer to buy or where from?
I was thinking about from usa but not sure about the voltage/tax and other complications

I wouldn't buy a USB burner... Too slow... get a USB 2.0 Lite-on or LaCie.

I have no idea of prices in the UK though.

Anyway, I am moving this to the consumer's opinion form.

i can use usb 2.0 though,as i said. i dont think my lappy has capabilty to handle it, i checked on the usb root thingy , it says hardware specification of 001

I think you'd better get a USB 2.0 burner as celtic_druid advised. A PCMCIA to USB 2.0 card, which costs about $30-50 US street price, will be well worth the invesment. This will let you have much faster connection not only for burning but also for other applications such as audio/video devices.
