what modem and microfilter etc do i need to buy?

what modem you get is up to you but the Speedtouch is good for me with pipex, there isnt' as far as I know a preferred make of filters just dont waste your time trying the high street stores, plenty available to buy now on Ebay etc... mine was £6.50
