I'm very interested in this offer that multivision are doing:

AMD Athlon XP 2100+ Processor
512MB PC2700 DDR RAM
2x 60GB 7200rpm Hard Drives (RAID)
128Mb Gainward GeForce 4 Ti 4200 (Tv-Out/DVI)
16x DVD-Rom Drive (40x CD-ROM)
Creative Audigy 1394 Sound Card
Videologic ZXR-500 5.1 Surround Speakers
17" LG 782LE TFT Screen
Win TV GO
Microsoft Windows XP Home
TriForce Games Pack, Lotus Smartsuite
Thrustmaster Gamepad
3 Year UK Onsite warranty (+3 year RTB)- dunno if that means its a 6 yr warranty overall i think so from the stuff on their website

fo £1500 inc vat but not p & p- what do you guys think of this price- think its called vision power 44 for anyone thats interested

Thing is they don't say what the make of they're mother board and hardrives are- just wondered if any body had bought a similar spec computer from them and knew the info

Motherboards are mostly M.S.I or somtimes D.F.I
Hard drives are nearly always IBM at the moment.
It is a 6 year warranty
DVD may be a Liteon.

Phone `em up & tell them that you really want that pc but see if they`ll knock any money off for you.My m8 always phones up Dell & haggles with `em for price & usually gets at least £30-40 knocked off & free delivery & I know I`d rather have £60 in my pocket.

I just had a look at that thing, the price does look reasonable for that spec but the site seems a little vague.

On the main screen it states 512MB PC2100 DDR RAM but if you look at the More Info screen it has changed to 512MB PC2700 DDR RAM

Also the main screen states 40x12x48 CDRW drive but the More info screen it only mentions 16x DVD-Rom Drive (40x CD-ROM) and NO CDRW!

These things aside I ram through pricing it up. Bear in mind I have more than likely used better components (except the IBM Drives (Yuk!) I used a single 120Gb drive).

The sound setup seems particularly impressive, the card and speakers alone cost me £160!! (Thats about £154 more than I normally spend LOL :D)The picture only shows 4 satellite speakers but mine have 6 (for what difference an extra 2 make!).

Anyway, the whole setup comes in at a smidge over £1330

From that I could cut costs by using cheaper components, cheaper case, not use a variable speed Cooler, cheaper monitor (mine has built in speakers, didn't notice earlier) etc.

A lot of the components come with 3yrs warranty anyway (Monitor is on-site, Hard Drive is RTB) so shop warranties dont cut much ice if you know how to build one.

£34 for delivery seems a little steep as well but not too excessive.

The bottom line is, If you were me and you had that kind of money to spend, you'd build it yourself. If you're not into building PC's then its a fair price for a fairly well spec'd PC.

thanks guys-
ok say if i were to build it my self- having never done it before but willing to try it- where should i go to get the components?
using something like ebuyer and using the best components where possible i keep getting a total which is pretty similar if not slightly more than the price quoted of the multivision computer!!
