I recently re-installed Win98 SE using a Win98 SE CD ( i usually use a restore disc, but its gone now ). My computer does not recognize the Sound Card and needs Drivers. I found the correct drivers and installed it, and now its asking for some files from the Win98 SE CD, which it cant locate any of them.

The Sound Card worked only work once, after i restarted my computer, the sound card was dead. i checked it up and it says "This Device is Working Properly". Can anyone help?

When the setup asks for files on the Windows CD, you'll need to browse to the drive that has the Windows CD and sometimes, you'll need to browse to the folders that has the needed files. Without the needed files from Windows CD, even if you have the correct drivers, the installation can't be completed successfully.

You can extract the files from the CAB's using PowerArchiver (http://www.powerarchiver.com/).

Use the Update Driver option. It will prompt you for the location of the new driver and you'll need to point it to the folder that you have the driver.

BTW, it doesn't ask for files on Win98 disc because these files have already been copied to the system.

bump

What are you doing? This thread is still at the top of the 1st page and it's NOT yours!!! If you think you can increase your post count by bumping others' thread, you're WRONG as we can take the counts off. If you do this one more time, you'll ask for suspension or permanent ban, OK? Van

ripsareus, I just ran a check on you and I notice you have LOTS OF bumping of other people's threads. I believe you'll need to have a short (suspension) vacation to think about your action. How about that?
