I've been using my scanner to scan coins and such and it turns out pretty good, but it takes FOREVER!!.. I'm looking into buying a digital camera that can get close up of the coin itself and good quality. I once bough a polaroid digi cam and wow that thing is a piece of junk (wasted $100) i could not zoom in on a close up of the coins and it was very blurry. Can somone suggest a cam that can be good with little things such as coins?. I hear nothing under 2.0 mega pixles. I dont want to spend anything over $300 though

I tell you what I had one, a $300 digital camera (when I bought it) (http://electronics.cnet.com/electronics/0-6613935-1304-5598384.html?tag=pdtl-list). Well my girl friend sells jewelry on e-bay and she couldn't get good enough details in the pics with that camera even with the help of Adobe Photoshop. So know I have Sony Cyber Shot (http://electronics.cnet.com/electronics/0-6613935-1304-6939636.html?tag=pdtl-list) and she doesn't have that problem anymore. The way I see these cameras you get what you pay for so in your case if you buy a $300 one you might want to buy it from a place that has a good return policy. Just my 2 cents and something to think about. Good luck.

You need one that has a MACRO facility, I use a Fufi Finepix 4800Zoom, works great for close ups, not sure what the current retail price is, but I'm sure it cant be far off your budget...Tony92

I got my A40 a month ago. Have not used it that much, but it looks impressive.
Give me your mail, and I can send you some pictures taken with it. :)
Check out the reviews on both www.steves-digicams.com or www.dcresource.com , you may find some useful info there. :)
