Hi there, I have got Evo X Beta ver 1.8.458 with it's iso, ini, and nfo files

and I also managed to get a rar file Evo X ver 2.2 rar but all that is in that is a .bin file..

Does this mean it is an add on to the beta version? I dont understand where it came from and the EvoX website only mentions the 1.8.458 release as being the latest.

(Also very wary on using this as there is untold posts of people knackering their xbox setting the ini up wrong),
Does anyone know how I can simply get winmedia player onto the harddrive, and recognise DVD's on D:\ drive, starting from scratch cheers :o)

1.8.458 is a version of evo-x dash - evo-x 2.2 is a version of a bios!

djlins.
If you just burn the evo-x iso, let it boot up. From there, go to network settings and assign a static ip to your xbox (198.162.0.x). Then you can ftp into your xbox as anonymous user. From there go to your xbox c: and rename the old xbox dashboard file xboxdash.xbe to msxboxdash.xbe, and ftp the default.xbe file from the evo-x iso to the xbox c:. Now rename the default.xbe to xboxdash.xbe and you'll have evo-x up and running. Screwing around with the menu.ini file isn't as tough as people are making it seem, they're just noobs doing **** without thinking. Even if you screw up the menu.ini you can always boot up the evo-x cd which ignores the menu.ini thats siting on the hard drive, so from there you can replace the bad menu.ini with a good one. The only thing you want to do is back up your xbox hard drive partitions c: and y: (I think y is the one with saved games). I too was pretty skeptical, but installed the evox dash yesterday and now I see most of the horror stories are from people who don't know whtat they're doing and thus shouldn't be using beta software.....
