Hi,

I'm new to this and I'm trying to purchase a new PS2 system and install a direct boot chip like NEO 4 or MESSIAH. I heard that the most 'friendly' system is the GT3. What about the new system out there the market today? Like the one here at amazon : http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/detail/-/videogames/B00004TMPB/qid=1026412528/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3_etk-vg/103-2302506-6852665

Thanks.

by "new" systems, i presume that your talking about the ones $ony is producing right now (the v7 3900x series). yes it is true that no chips are available for these systems, but that doesnt mean in the future there wont someone that finds out how to wire one up.

actually, there is no truly "friendly" system. it all depends on your skills at soldering :)

I think there is a Blues Magic Chip or something like that that is supposed to be compatable... I heard it somewhere. I guess the Messiah 2 is supposed to be compatable when it comes out.

I just found out that the SBOX/NEO KEY also works for the v7 if that helps, but that is not direct boot....

the messiah is easy to install if you know what your doing and the ver5 ps2 is the easiest to install.

ya, you can get a ps2 in stores now, and have a big chance of getting like a v5.....check on the box is the version number is something like.... scph-30003R or scph-30004R. These are compatible with the messiah...if your in Europe that is.

SCPH39002 is now supported by Messiah for PS2
(releasing on new version design)

Support for the latest V7 version PAL console (unavailable yet in Europe / UK) has been successfully completed, diagrams will be uploaded shortly as the PS2 Messiah design has now changed whilst incorporating this newer version console, and new diagrams will be required for the previous V3 / V4 / V5 and V6 console versions.
