How come there can be posts with replies but no view count?

A few weeks back the Webmaster put up a sticky saying they were messing about trying to speed up the Forum. This was one area they were tweaking.
Looks as though they either haven't finished or decided to ignore it. If it speeds the place up IMO it could be sacrificed.

The view counter has been modified to work much less during our busy half of the day. This is done to lessen the load on the database.

Why not just remove it completely if it's not working?

I used to look at it a lot, but i don't bother with it now as it's inaccurate!
