I read somewhere this is possible but I have tried it once with my external firewire drive an my Pioneer A03 which is installed in my G4 and I could get toast to recognize both drives but not to copy on both at hte same time I tried writting to 2 separate images at the same time

Try launching a second instance of toast. That should work.

That means a second Toast application needs to exist.

installed a copy of toast on my second harddrive and it works fine now.
