Attach it to an IDE cable, give it a power supply, set the jumper correctly and start looking for a BIOS flash for your motherboard which is very unlikely to recognise a large disk. Or you can use a program like EZBios which effectively creates an alternate BIOS and allows you to use big drives with old boards.

you can use a pci ide card & that also gives you extra ide channels
