Help, i tried to install a Winon product. It installed adaptec drivers for my CD and DVD players. But now windows has disabled my CD and DVD saying that there is a compatibility issue. When I go into exlporer there id no D or E drive. My CD is a TEAC CD-W524E and my DVD is a ATAPI DVD ROM 16X. I have tried system restore but this did not work. I using Windows XP. So if any of you can help please do.

Uninstall the drivers! Adaptec drivers cause all sorts of problems, disappearing drives, disk not recognised, etc.
Your computer (if running 98 and above) does'nt need them.

i had the same prob a few days ago
i uninstalled the drivers the did a scan disk and it fixed the prob
