Im soldering an xbox, and i am using 30 gauge insulated wire. How do you remove the plastic off to expose the wire(strip it)? Do you put the solder iron on the plastic? PLEASE HELP SO I CAN GET DONE FAST HERE!!!!

Put the tip of the wire on the iron itself not on the tip.. This will melt of the plastic and you'll have your wire stripped.

A Bic lighter on the insulation works well also, personally i use a $6.00 wire stripper from rat shack....

or use a sharp knife, gently score the insulation and pull it off in a fashion linear to the wire..

Sharp knife isn't a good idea for the inexperienced simply because even a small nick in the wire will cause it to break when flexed, heat or a stripper is much more reliable...

I'm a scalpel man meself. Deffo for the ninja plastic scorers though. Dont go deep enough to hit the wire just enough to score it enough to pull with finger nails.

Teeth kinda suck if your doing a 29 wire mod : ). I just use a sissors and lightly pinch the wire, then pull. Comes right off, you really get the hang of it after 2 or 3 wires then you can fly right through them.

Teeth work great... think about it, we can rip through plastic with our teeth, but only the mightiest will be able to bite through the wire. Never tried it with 30 guage wire before... I use my wire stripping for 12 and 16 gauge audio stuff, but i am assuming you aren't going to bite through a 30 guage wire

use a small scissor, just gently apply pressure and pull the wire.

I agrre with sharps go to rad shak and buy the stripper its well worth it and works great on 30 guage keynar wire.
