raven6208 Jul 15, 2002, 10:52 AM I've read the thread about WarCraft III and have this question ....
It seems that a backup is possible, provided it is done right (i.e. CloneCD and the right burner).
Now because the game uses Securom (version ???) does this mean that I can't play the backuped copy on a CD-R/RW burner because it will know it's a CD-R Disc and that it will ONLY play on ROM type drives (i.e. CD-ROM or DVD-ROM) ???
Any input is greatly appreciated !
celtic_druid Jul 15, 2002, 12:37 PM Should work on a CDRW drive provided you run something like Clone CD's hide CDR to block the ATIP check.
Matrix_581 Jul 18, 2002, 01:42 PM I just used Clone CD 4, and the normal 'Game setting' and it works fine in all 3 or my cd dives (2 writers, 1 reader)

I assume this is with Clone CD's Hide CDR enabled??
ScorpionSting Jul 18, 2002, 11:23 PM i have a related question hide cdr is disabled in the us version how do you change the region setting so that clone cd thinks that its not being used in the us
raven6208 Jul 19, 2002, 07:00 AM To perform this "virtual move" ... you need to change the settings located within the "REGIONAL SETTINGS" icon from the control panel to something other than the "UNITED STATES" ....
gamehunter Jul 19, 2002, 07:43 PM If you live in the United States, simply set everything for Canadian.
VeniVidiVici Jul 22, 2002, 05:01 PM how do you change this? im confused... and i wanna burn this game so i dont scratch my orig...
celtic_druid Jul 22, 2002, 05:49 PM @VeniVidiVici, you only need Hide CDR if you want the game to run in a CDRW drive. The copy will run fine in a regular DVDRom or CDRom drive.
VeniVidiVici Jul 22, 2002, 06:03 PM i do need it to run in a cdrw drive... and ive tried changing my settings in windows to read as Canada... reinstalled clonecd like 5x.. and its still blocked... Does the cd itself burn differently if that hide-cdr thing is enabled?...
also... do i have to change all the settings there? or just the location one?.... thx
Armerius Jul 22, 2002, 11:04 PM umm.. if i don't know why canada wouldn't work... but i have mine set to Australia and it works fine... actually i just leave it that way... have ever since i installed XP
what OS do you use?
frankly you could just use a No-CD (assuming you can get it to install). There is a great one on Megagames.com
VeniVidiVici Jul 22, 2002, 11:45 PM I'm using XP... and i dont really wanna use no-cd crack. This is sorta making me mad, cuz i wanna burn it so i can actually play it in my cd-rw as well as my cdrom drive... i just like having 1:1 copy... dont like scratchin orig.. heh
celtic_druid Jul 22, 2002, 11:59 PM So you do have a CDRom drive.. Just play it in that.
VeniVidiVici Jul 23, 2002, 03:21 AM well... i also need to get a copy to a friend... he has original... but he doesnt have a burner that can read what is required...
thx for help and i still wanna fix this =/
Edit: err forgot to mention that he only has burners on his comps, and no dvdrom or cdrom drives...
celtic_druid Jul 23, 2002, 03:27 AM The copy you make is no different whether it is going to be played in a CDRW drive or not. The only difference is that to run it in a CDRW drive something like hide CDR must be enabled... This has nothing to do with the copy, it is to do with the ATIP which is on the CDR before you burn it.
gamehunter Jul 23, 2002, 06:20 AM For windows xp, you have two settings to change. The're both in reginal settings. The first is at the top and labeled standards and formats. Change this to English (Canada).
On the bottom it's labeled Location. Change this to Canada.
That's all there is to it.
VeniVidiVici Jul 24, 2002, 08:00 AM oo.. icic.. so if i can get him to run the hide thing... then he can play this disk eh?.. gotta get him to do that ... is there ne other way to make it read in rw drives?....
