ITs the same difference as DVDR and DVD+RW mate basically if you have a DVDR burner you can only burn DVDR and DVD-RW and vice versa
DVDR and DVD-RW are what everyone uses are they are compitible with most of the stand alone players.

You can get really cheap ones now about a £1 but I don't know how good they are I have tried the datasafe ones but kept losing data as I would get bad disk errors. White Label have brought out some RW and they are really cheap so I will probably give them a go. Ideal to test DVDs if your player supports them however not a lot do.
