I have created a new identity within OE but now it won't open. It opens sometimes but, sometimes after about 30 secs of trying to open it pops up an error message saying "OE can't open beacause another instance of it is running on your puter, please log off windows and try again" that's not verbatim as I couldn't copy the error box but it's near enough what it says. Any help on this issue?

First of all try rebooting.

What version of OE do you have? If you don't have OE6 I suggest you try upgrade to it.

Also make sure that you don't have OE running more than once.

Thanks Roger, you're a Saint. Bet you've heard that before, lol. I have ME 4.90.3000 & that's the problem that has started since I created a new identity. When I switch from one identity to the other is says there is another instance of it running?

You need to have a little patience. You created a new identity and things are being generated and copied over when you first run OE. Depending on how much existing stuff you have in e-mail it could take a couple minutes.

Check the settings in OE, in options select the tab "General" see that "Send and receive messages at startup" is not ticked, also see that "check for new messages every" is not ticked.
If you try to open OE while it is checking for new mail in the background you will get the message you describe.
