I occasionally have a problem after installing a game from CD I burned to make an, er, legitimate copy: Upon launching the installed
game, I get an error message telling me to put the game cd into the drive. This happens although the proper CD is in the drive. It has occured on a couple of games and I have the same symptom using the CD in question on different machines. I am wondering if there is a problem with the authoring of the CD, and if so, can it be corrected within the installed program and/or registry?

Moving this to VGB.

A lot of games have copy protection on them, if you do not copy them correctly then they will not work unless you use a cracked EXE to bypass the protection checks.

There are programs such as Clony XXL for detecting the protections and giving you the settings to copy them correctly, however the settings are no good without the correct hardware.

Thanks. Copy protection was my first thought, too. but none was detected by Clony and I haven't seen the usual protection file types on the CD. Also the protection usually keeps you from doing the install in the first place, at least in my experience. I am suspecious of something with the authoring, such as the name given to the CD. One reason I think so is that I have seen this phenomonon when I put more than one game on a CD, which was fixed when I put the game, and only that game on the CD.
