View Full Version : Question on magic 2 chip installed in my ps2

I installed this chip it will boot some my games fine but it wont boot some cheaper dvdrs i have and they worked on my old no solder chip i got a v5 ps2 and i wanted to know there was 2 dif solder points for the scex i used the i used the one to the outer side of the main chip is there a dif in the 2 i know i used a cap on my old v4 and it read dvdrs and cdrs better with it but the magic chip i thought would read anything. Any help would be great thanks.

Most likely it is that the PS2 you have the Magic 2 is more picky when playing the backup dvd-r's. It not the chip at fault... More likely the cheap lasers that the PS2 uses..

I have the same problems w/ my generic Ps2 DVD-Rs and the only solutions that worked for me are...


1- Stick w/ Branded media for your Ps2 DVD-Rs
2- Burn at 1x w/ generic media (works sometimes).

DvDvD i did find some dvdr's that boot up everytime flawlessly if u like email for a link to them they are princos 1x i get them cheap

Hey dwshark, could you send me the link for the princos? I just got a 10pk of them for 12 bucks. Do you get them cheaper than that?
