Recently everytime I restart my computer my onboard sound is not working properly. I reinstall drivers and it says missing file. So I skip the file and it works fine. That is until I restart again and the same problem occurs.

My onboard sound is sigma tel ac'97

Got latest unsigned drivers and they don't work at all.

Any advice?????

Try reinstall the driver thru Driver Update. What file did it say was missing, m8?

The file STAC97.sys was not found.

Windows needs the disk labelled AC97 WDM sigmatel driver disk to continue. This disk may be provided by your computer or device manufacturer.

Skipped the file and it seems to work until I restart.

The driver is listed for download here, don't know if this helps:
