Does a 'NO CD' patch make the game run faster or does it run slower?? Also wouldn't this make your HD a bigger part of the game causing CPU usage to increase??

Even if they do read from the CD it is probably just music or videos anything else would be cached on your harddisk first. Protections like SafeDisc2 can take a fair while to load despite what the creators claim. Armerius Jul 22, 2002, 10:59 PM frankly, i use no-cd patches on several games (when i could legitimately be using the cd) simply because it runs better without the cd... hammy18_99 Jul 22, 2002, 11:42 PM I dont think it runs any better, but Im like armerius also I use no cd just because then I dont have to worry about finding the cd and can just start it up and play and same if some of my friends just want to play a game here and there. gsand Jul 24, 2002, 05:53 PM i find some of them work slowert-some faster, hot andd miss if u ask me.regards,gsand. Armerius Jul 24, 2002, 10:55 PM it also seems to have quite a bit to do with the copy proctection it is circumventing. Safedisk 1 and 2 make it run a touch slow... Securom it seems to speed up. but maybe that's just on my quirky as hell machine. |
