i psoted a message before but people stopped responding to it and my question was never answered. the other day i downloaded an iso filt and arter that a full working game(madden 2002) and the file was only about 5 megs but when i uncompressed it it was about 300 megs it was not alot of text and it was not a dud. my question is how can i do that?

As I said before it just may have contained a lot of repeating data..
Are you sure that there was only one 5mb file?? Because normally a release like that would be many files... RAR, r00, r01, etc.
What program was used to compress it??
What happens if you recompress it??
Also in future, just add to your original post, rather than starting a second one.

:hdspin: one was compressed in winzip and some in winrar but in winrar it was only 1 file not like 001 002 and like i said they were fill working games and iso files.

I've had a similar experience. I once downloaded a PS1 bootdisc off morpheus and when I decompressed it it create a 40Mb file and I was really surprised.

me too, I dl a couple of dc games, all the 001 002 etc was oly about 190Mb but when i unzipped it, it was like 700MB in a cdi. The game works too. What compression are they using ?

this is because of repeated files you were rite there is no way to compress any files that much without them being repeaters

Ok got a record compression, 60Mb in 3 files, now 700+ after unzipping it.

Sheesh, If you are wondering how just don't. You'll just have a headache. Well only you of course. All in all if you know what the correct setting was to be then there is all you're question !
