I copy a lot of Dreamcast and Playstation 2 games, which one would you recommend:
LG 24x16x40
Samsung 24x16x40
Lite On 40x12x48
Is there too much difference in speed between burning at 40 and 24?, thanks in advance.

all those drives will match you needs great, so i would let the price decide.
the differnce in 24x to 40x is about 3-5 minutes per burn.
i would definatley not say cd-rw is useless. $60 vs $300+, and what speed do dvd-r drives burn cd's at-12x?

well
if he already have a cdrw tat is up to par
then it is useless
like if hes already got a 8x.. then no point of gettin a newer cdrw
plus most games comin out are dvd's now
mind as well ... unless he doesnt play games at all
if u only burn pc games/files then get a fast cdrw
not if u play ps2 and xbox... get a dvd wrtier...

Remember, you should keep the burning speeds low. My favorite in CDRW is the good old Plextor 12/10/32A...I've had it now 3 years, burned MUCHO CD's (for DC, PSX, PS2, VCD's, etc) and it still burns like a charm today...especially with PS2 games and CloneCD :-)

get the new plextor 40x burner. It has a new feature called "vari rec".
It has to do with burning audio cds, you can find more and read about it online. Plextors are the best.
only a little bit more money, but worth it.

just get a liteon... or one of it's clones (those rebadge ones). They have the most bang for the money. I got one at dell for 70 bux shipped. You can also hack it so it burns at 48X instead of 40X

You already asked this in the CDRW forum and it was moved to Consumers forum!
PLEASE do not double post as it is against the forum RULES. ;)
