The reason I'm asking this is because my 24102b(5s54) can't copy Warcraft 3. My buddies liteon , which is the 32x model can!! I was thinking about flashing the firmware to a newer version, but I've heard that the 32x flash trashed someones burner (couldn't copy sd2 anymore)

OK, if I flash with a newer version, and it doesn't work out, can I go back and flash it again with an older version??

Anyone know?

Ok, I just found out the answer to my question from the lite on site. Once upgraded, it can NOT be turned back.

So, let me ask this. Has anyone out there upgraded their 24102b to the latest firmware? (5s5a)?

If you have, can you still copy sd2?

Can you copy securom?

You can flash back, just use MKFlash to dump your current firmware and then you can reflash it later if you want.

I doubt you will have problems with SD2 if you upgrade, but I also don't think it will help with your securom problem. The solution is not to use the drive to read it, only to write it.

MKflash huh? Hmmm, sounds pretty cool. When you say dump you current firmware, you mean that it puts it back to its original state? Then you can reflash? Where can I get this program if you don't mind me asking. I tried a search and all I found were broken links.

Thanks.

Thanks for the link. Lots of info there.

I would still like to know if there is anyone out there that has upgraded their 24102b to firmware version 5s5a without any problems.

There have been numerous firmware updates from lite-on in the past couple of months and none of them have had any effect on SD2 copying. Unless you hear something bad, then I would say that it is safe to assume that there is no problem.

As far as I know there was only one isolated incident and as I said at the time it was most likely not intentional.
