ok i have an issue with a CDRW of mine. i have been making a cd of all the pictures i have and categorizing them. i got up to like 20,000 pictures and had to format my hd because of some other issues. i burnt them to a cdrw using packet writing software and now the cd is not working right. it freezes up the computer while the rom tries to recognise it and when i open it there is only a txt file in there rather than all my pictures the txt file reads
This disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating system
that supports the ISO-13346 "UDF" file system specification.
i have no idea what this means. Is there any way i can get the pictures back that are on this cd? Has anyone got any ideas?
Cheers

Greets :) you need the "UDF reader installed"
Q. What are packet writing and UDF?
A. DirectCD uses two technologies called packet writing and UDF.
Packet Writing: DirectCD gives us the ability to add data incrementally to a disc in small or large quantities. Data is written to the disc in small "packets". It is possible to record even a single file at a time. Unlike previous methods of writing data to CD (Disc-at-Once and multisession), packet writing does not waste much time or disc space. There is no arbitrary limit to the number of packets that can be written to a CD.
UDF (Universal Disc Format): UDF is a new file system for use on optical media (such as CD-ROM and DVD), and other media. UDF has several advantages over the ISO 9660 file system used by standard CD-ROMs. UDF is designed to take advantage of packet writing, and has been accepted and approved as the industry standard by all the major players in compact disc storage, including Philips, Sony, and OSTA (the Optical Storage Technology Association).

ok it looks like the cd is way too damaged as it freezes the computer every time i try and read it but i have another question anyways. If thats the case and u need a udf reader to view in the information put on a cd with packet writing software does that mean that any computer u try to read the information with has to have a udf reader installed to be able to view the data?
