I just opened my computer and saw ram chips. How can I find out without turning on the computer how much memory on the ram? Each ram stick has 10 microchips on it.

More than ofter you will just have to guess what ammount of memory is onthe module. Mostly it is not printed on it. Just turn on your PC in order to find out. Somewhere in control panel>system you can find out how much memory each module holds.

To find out the amount on each chip you will have to put them in one at a time and look at the POST screen on your PC to find out.

Some ram does have a sticker with the size and speed.
Otherwise run SiSoft Sandra, it will tell you what is installed in each slot.
