I've got a small problem with my Plex. First a quick history. I was running a Plex 16x w/ ECDC 4 and experiencing no problems. I upgraded to the 40x and ECDC 5 and now my Philips walkman(newer) is having trouble reading the discs about a quarter of the way through. Read errors and scratching sounds. The discs read fine in other players. I tried burning at 24x and then 16x. Still errors. I called Plextor and the guy pretty much scratched his head and said "dunno". He wouldn't even suggest a firmware update. After a little prodding he finally came up with moving the DMA jumper in the back of the drive. I haven't tried this yet but I thought I would put this out there to see if I can get any input. Any is appreciated. This is not a very big problem but it is annoying nonetheless. Thanks.

if it starts after about 1/4 of the way through it sugested to me that it was when it kicked up from 16 spped to 24 speed, but if you've tryed at 16 speed that rules that out. What you could try is burning a disk at 4/8 speed just so you can rule out the speed of burning, you could also try burning at 4 speed with nero and ajusting the variRec options. If that still doesnt work then you know its not burn speed and it must be disk brand/hardware related.
