I say sadly because although they are 40X rated, and will indeed burn no problemo at 40X on my LiteOn, it appears that discs recorded at 40X are unreadable on most CD-Rom drives!!! I've found that burning at 24X on these discs seems to rectify that problem but it's hardly the point really. They are made by Discrite which to be frank IMO are not the best manu of CDR's by a long way. Quite a few people on other boards have also had the same problems. On a positive note though, I have recorded about 20 of these for audio at 24X using EAC and the quality is fine. JMO :( lordofthedeals Jul 31, 2002, 05:44 AM As the UK distributor of Discrite, we find it necessary to clarify the point raised above. Discrite is a brand name not a manufacturer. If it does not say Discrite on the disc, then it is not a Discrite product. Anyone wishing to try the BRAND NEW 48 SPEED DISCRITE can get a FREE SAMPLE at www.lordofthedeals.co.uk Declan Jordan Sales manager www.lordofthedeals.co.uk CHR15 Jul 31, 2002, 07:01 AM Originally posted by pirateclown AYE BOUGHT A SPINDLE FROM PRICELESS FOR £13 WWW.PLESS.CO.UK £13 FOR 100 DECENT QUALITY CDRS Is it actually possible to order anything from these people??? Cream disks also at www.xsct.co.uk u-571 Jul 31, 2002, 11:33 AM yes where did discrite come into it ? are they made by discrite right enough?? lordofthedeals Jul 31, 2002, 11:48 AM 'They are made by Discrite which to be frank IMO are not the best manu of CDR's by a long way. Quite a few people on other boards have also had the same problems. ' As quoted by Lazza lordofthedeals Jul 31, 2002, 11:53 AM To confirm: What we are saying is please don't mistake 'CREAM DISCS' as a 'DISCRITE' product. If you want to distinguish between the products why not order a sample disc from www.lordofthedeals.co.uk We look forward to hearing your comments when you've tried the NEW 48 speed Discrite. Lazza Jul 31, 2002, 12:32 PM So are they made by Disrite or not then Declan? I have it from very good source that they 100% are, but maybe he's lying............................ If a disc is rated 40X then it should damn well burn at 40X and be able to be read back on any CD-Rom drive whoever it's made by. And I stand firm on my post that Discrite are not the best CDR manu by a long, long way. Check out the CDFreaks media forum (run by OC-Freak) to see what most serious burners feel about their discs, also this board & UK forums as well. JMO umistboy Aug 01, 2002, 10:02 AM stick to the datasafe silver premiums at 16.5p each. untouchable for the price. lordofthedeals Aug 01, 2002, 11:42 AM What you have to know, is the difference between 'a Brand' and 'a Manufacturer.' Discrite was manufactured my Maser baer in India with the distinctive green plate on either end. The new Discrite is manufactured by SKC in Korea. The cream cdr you bought may have been manufactured my Moser Baer, but is unlikely to be of the same specification and defiantly not made for Discrite. Discrite is owned by Medea International Ltd. Lazza, If you would like to test the 48 speed Discrite, please contact me at www.lordofthedeals.co.uk I look forward to hearing from you. However they are mainly a shop with an added on website. Put an order on line, got an email confirmation, phoned them 2 days later and they said they had not received it! Had to fax it through to them. Hardly the point!! IMHO, there are many better. |
