pirateclown Jul 30, 2002, 08:15 PM PRICELESS IS THE BEST BET
WWW.PLESS.CO.UK EXCELLENT SHOP WILL DO YOU A GOOD DEAL
BASED IN GLASGOW
ALSO TRY WWW.WORLDOFCOMPUTERS.UK.COM
8210 Jul 31, 2002, 08:15 AM Try any local computer stores as they will do you a good deal and will be easy to contact if anything goes wrong.
Try and avoid the likes of tiny, tiny, dixons,pc world and currys as there after sales service is poor and the build quality on tiny and time machines are also poor.
You could also try the auction sites as they normally have decent systems for cheap.
DNRC Jul 31, 2002, 08:19 AM you could also try www.novatech.co.uk, I have use them at work for a while now and they are very good.
M_rsa Jul 31, 2002, 08:28 AM Have you ever considered building one coz you would be able to get an extremely high spec for the price you have mentioned . You could still get a good system for that price but you could get a much better system by building a pc yourself. I have just built my own system and I reckon that I saved myself at leasts 200 quid .
If you are not interested in building one yourself then i would suggest that you checkout you local comp shop or fair, as said b4 saty away from major companies .

scorpionx Jul 31, 2002, 10:33 AM aldi sell what appear to be very good spec low price computers every couple of months at the price you are looking at ,maybe someone who has already bought one can tell you and me if they are the bees knees or not.
Fusion Backups Jul 31, 2002, 10:34 AM He is right you could build you own pc with a high spec and you will save quite abit instead of getting ripped of at a hight street computer store.
richbambam Dec 02, 2002, 12:49 AM Try www.dell.co.uk
quality systems always having hot deals you should get a high spec PC delivered for £800 m8
Ive had a Dell for 4 years without any problems, will be getting a be getting a new one myself soon what I'm gonna do is wait till just after xmas & take a look at what offers dell are doing then nip into PC world to see if they have any good or better deals in the sales after christmas..I thought about building my own but if your not 100% about what your doing & something goes wrong youve got to pay a retailer to fix it which could be expensive..& you dont save infact you'll probabaly end up paying more than £800
gazzaman2k Dec 02, 2002, 10:12 AM i recommend building one up 2. if u learn how to build a pc up one stop at a comuter fair for all ur bits then u begin.
parckard bell or hp or summing use top spec things but the lower end of them ect.... or usually have all things build into the mother baord so upgrading can be a ***** to do ect... some companys even glue ur ram in ect... so u cant get ur ram out or ide cables ect... (especially compaq)
stato Dec 02, 2002, 01:27 PM If youre unsure/wary about building your own, check out your local Aldi (the cheap supermarket similar in style to netto). They have some really good deals on computers............if your quick enough cos' they usually sell out within a couple of days of stocking them.
trinity_hayes Dec 02, 2002, 01:37 PM look on here, I have ordered the bits to make up a second pc, minus the memory which I get from Crucial, mobo, cpu, 80GB Hard drive, dvd rom, cdrw, fans, floppy drive, case, and psu included for under £400 delivered, if your in the UK mainland delivery is free with orders over £50, and service very good. You could easily get a much better spec and have money left over, if your prepared to have a go yourself. Good Luck.

BTW, that included a 17" monitor and keyboard, mouse and speakers.

If you do not want to build it but want bang for your bucks. ;)
As above, stay away from PC-World and the like. If you do want to buy from a largish firm for peace of mind then consider either Mesh, Evesham or Dell. But you would still be better going for a local recomended small business instead, ring around and see what they can offer you.
PhilEnfield Dec 02, 2002, 05:04 PM I've had a couple of machines from Select Computers in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. They have an EBay shop, but you can also contact them by phone, quote the spec. you are after and they build it to your own requirements.
Very good prices and reliable aftersales too.
