Which disks are you having problems with?

Plextors generally don't have any problems reading CDG.
Do you have access to another CD drive - Yamaha are very good.

my m8 has a hp burner it reads them fine
i dont need another burner just a reader that reads cg+g

Do you mean PLAY rather than READ mate? As far as most of us know every plextor reads and writes CD+G (as most Yamahas do) however not all PLAY CD+G

and....

What exactly do you want to do, or end up with?

Plextors can read, write, and play CDG disks (with proper software players like WinCDG). Track extraction and writing are all top notch with a Plextor burner. As far as reading a disk image, most any burner, CDR, and DVD can do that with CloneCD. We just need to know what you would like to end up with (play, backup, rip?) :)

my plexwriter must be a bad one it struggles with the reading of cd+g disks
even to extract 1 song from a cd+g disk it spins and spins and sits at 5%
for a half an hour or more using cdr win
it is fine for extracting wav files and it burns well
i have tryed extracting the same cd+g files that my plexi wont look at
with my mates hp and it does it ok
i have a reader that is supposed to be a multi read but it does not read cd+g disks
so what i want end up with is a reader that does read them
ps the plexi has been back to the manafacture and been replaced what is the chance of a second dud

It is easier to read the origional disks than from backups.

Is the disk in good condition?

CD+G disks are audio disks with the graphics written into the subchannels. If your plextor reads audio well (which you have mentioned), it should have no problems extracting the CD+G tracks.

Try extracting just the audio (no subchannel) from the disk.

It sounds like you have a damaged CD, or CDR of poor quality.

As I have mentioned before, most any burner, DVD, or CDRom will read the disks... What exactly do you want to do (play on your pc, Rip the tracks to bin files, burn your own compilation, or back up the whole thing?)

:)
