Some latest recorded cd's are not working on my cdrom even though they work on my friends system which he has purchased recently. My system is 5 years old and cdrom is of creative brand. I have never faced such a problem, please help me.

Do you actually have a Creative cdrom that has lasted five years?
I and four friends all had a Creative 24X cdrom, manufactured by Samsung. The one that lasted longest became 22 months old......:(

It may be simple though. The lens may be dirty. Try to use one of those lens cleaning cds. That may help.
Does it still play original cds properly? Since it is so old, it may have problems with the new types of cdr, made for high-speed recording. These often have poorer reflectivity than the older discs.
If it still plays your older burned cds, this is likely to be the case.
A new cdrom will only set you back $30 or something though, so it may be the easiest thing to do. :)
