hi i will pay you 1 pound via nochex if you can solve this problem i will need to test it for a week to make sure it doesnt come back.
Right ive had my dvd writer for about 3 weeks it did this the first day i got it, but i thought i solved it and it had been doing this for the last 2 days now. Using prassi primo dvd 2.0 sometimes movies and datadiscs copy fine no problems other times my dvdr writer stops and starts for about 5 minutes whilst burning it took 1 hour to burn a 1.7gn dvd image.
Using nero i backed up 4.7 gb of mp3s, it burned fine. Now when i try to make a data disc just after it says buffer underun protection activated i get
Unexpected exception. I am running win xp pro, ntfs file system, my pioneer dvdr drive is secondary master.
Please help me

Try this. If you have any Padus Software installed, like DiskJuggler. Uninstall it. It doesnt get along with Nero. I also uninstalled Prassi because after using Nero, I really didn't fine it useful or as easy.

Make Certain you have the Jumper set correctly (as Master and not cable select)

Be sure you have at least 2x the amount of HD space you need for the Burners temp file.

My A03 didn't like any aspi layer except the on installed by Sonic DVDit! The drive was VERY FLAKY with others. I use SpruceUp, but keep DVDit just for that reason.

It sounds like more than one actual problem to me. The stalling sounds like the buffer underrun is working. Are you limiting background tasks while burning. As I said b4, plenty of HD space? Got enough RAM? Proper swap file?

The exception Error, sounds like the Padus conflict I had. I have definately concluded that too many tools to acomplish this stuff can be detrimental to your system, and that "less is more". Less software, more success, you see.

Of course, the most probable way to solve this problem, is to

(a) try another burner, and see if it fixes the situation
(b) blow your HD flat and do a clean install
(c) go back to your 1st restore point, and work your way forward, noting what software, etc, has changed, to help pinpoint your problem.

If any of this solves your problem, use that pound to buy an underprivilaged child something. I don't need it.

Hope that helps!
