Win98 2nd edition. Athlon 1ghz. 256mb ram. 32mb ATi All In Wonder Radeon. ATi DVD version 7. Matshita DVD-ROM SR_8584A. Gigabyte GA 7ZXR m'board.

My problem is that I can't get commercial dvd movies to run. When the DVD software starts up it correctly reports that it is set for region 2 then the control panel and screen open up but the progress bar just keeps whizzing along and nothing else happens, no error messages or anything. DVD movies from magazine covers work ok as do data files.

I've not messed about with region settings or pirated dvd's or anything shadey so I'm wondering if something is corrupted or an installation has changed some settings?

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing all the ATi drivers and it hasn't made any difference.

Until recently I didn't try to run many DVD's so I can't figure out when it stopped working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
