From nero's timer, a 600 MB VCD took approx. 2min 40sec to burn at 40x and it took 3min to burn at 24x. That's not much of a time difference is there? I was hopping I can complete a CD within or close to 2 mins. I know the lead-in and lead-out takes a while but is the numbers right? From crude math calculations, it should have taken only 1min 40s but adding lead-in and lead-out time will increase the time. I just didn't know lead-in and lead-out each takes 30s. I guess a 56x won't be much faster than a 40x, maybe another 20s faster.

When writing at 40x most burners average around 31x and that is for a full burn. They are not burning 40x CLV but Z-CLV (slowest), P-CAV or CAV(fastest).
