when converting to mpeg2 just lower the bitrate. Obviously this lowers the quality if its from a decent source but if the source is vcd then theres not much point in having a high bitrate, it would just be a waste of space on the dvd. To fit 4 movies on 1 dvd you'd need an average bitrate of about 1200kbps (give or take a bit depending on how long the fims are)

As well as lowering the bitrate you would also need to drop the res to something like 352x576 or 352x288 if we are talking PAL.

I've been playing with it myself, and it works fairly well. Its not DVD quality, but its still good. I plan on playing with it myself more tommorow.

if you lower the resoultion to 352 x 288 pal or 352 x 240 ntsc be sure to encode it with an option for progressive switched on or certain authoring programs (dvdit) wont accept the movie file
