I have read the slyk tutoral and am using xnews to download movies but all their seems to be in the newsgroups recommended is requests and single file downloads scattered all over the place?

Does anyone have a good list of news servers?

Also how can you tell in the post their is a downloadable file?

thanks

The size of the post will tell you if there's a file present or not. Maybe your looking in the wrong group or your news server doesn't store the binaries, just the requests.

AFAIK there are no reliable free news servers, your best bet is to use a pay one combined with your ISP's to make sure you don't miss anything.

To download movies I prefer either the p2p programs or IRC as there's no risk that one part of the file could be missing like with newsgroups.

I'm using Direct Connect continuously and have done for months, a bit tricky to start with, but once you get used to, its easy.
