Can i play dvd-r games with the neo 2.5. If so, do I boot up the same way with the cd-r? I have gs 2.07 I think. I know it's not 1.93

well i have a neo 2.5 dvd key and your suppose to hold reset until both the green and blue lights blink (with gs inside). then swap in dvd with larger toc than your dvdr. then get to the last screen (press x to continue), the tray will open again and you swap in your dvdr. hope that helps.

Does it matter which version of the gs you have?

Try the following steps posted by OXIDEK2 on another forum. Although this is meant for the NEO2.6 it might work for you. Please tell us if it worked for you.

I figured a way out!!! I will list the steps for further reference. The process is a bit long and wack but hey it works:

ALTERNATE BOOT METHOD/DVD-R

- PS2 Version 4
- NEO2.6 Auto
- GameShark2 Version 2.0

1. Insert GS2.0 disc into disc tray.

2. Push reset, leave off for 5 sec.

3. Now turn on by holding reset until both lights begin to flash then let go.

4. GameShark will begin to load and when the main menu displays, the disc will be ejected and you then swap w/ an original DVD based PS2 game w/ a larger TOC(table of contents) than the DVD-R you plan on booting. TOC List <http://www.consolesource.com/tutorials/toc.htm>

5. Tray will automatically go back in. The reset button should turn red and then the PS2 will auto-navigate through to the press X to start...YOU WILL NOT PRESS X! Instead you will PRESS O.

6. You should now be at th Main Menu. Go to GameShark Codes. Activate ARMORED CORE2(MAKE SURE ALL 30 CODES ARE ON.) Then press Start.

7. Select WITH CODES.

8. Then press X. You should get an error message(Too many codes on. Turn some codes off.) The tray will eject and you have 5 seconds to insert your DVD-R. Onec done the tray will go in and take you to the GameShark Codes section.

9. Simply press START and select WITHOUT CODES.

10. Now press X to start game and DVD-R will boot.

I know the instructions are quite extensive but I wanted to be thorough for those who are new to this. I hope this will help out those w/ the same problem I encountered...ENJOY
