my brother in law has got a model scph 30003R (which i think is version 5) he wants to do the swap trick, but his ps2 won't read either my ar2 (with dongle inserted) or dvd region x. it just comes up with the "insert playstation or playstation2 disc" screen. my ar2 is the 1st 1, not ar2 v2. could this have anything to do with it?

Yes he needs the latest versions of both.

Yours works up to v4 models, sony changed the drivers of the v5 to prevent the old disks from being recognised.

yes some ps2 wont read older versions of ar get datel to send you an update disk they send most people one

just phine them and ask

(but try pressing reset a few times as my ps2 sometimes worn work with dvd region x??)
