upur0 Aug 14, 2002, 11:14 AM Well it looks like Kalisto are leaving the mainstream. I hate to see it happen. Read their .nfo for NFL BLitz 20-03, the last we'll be seeing of them from iSONEWS and other places.
First Centropy from the S/VCD scene now Kalisto. I just hope we can still get all the great releases by Kalisto that they do in the future. And hopefully a group like Miracle or Paradox will step up and be the mainstream ripper.
ps2wiz Aug 14, 2002, 11:25 AM Damn.
Superpnoy Aug 14, 2002, 11:32 AM Below is what it said and i believe they will still be ripping games its just that they dont want isonews to show there releases for privacy read more carefully not sure if im correct but i hope i am.
NOTE PLEASE READ: |
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We would like to publically ask isonews.com and similar PUBLIC
Websites *NOT* to post our releases. We don't mind you but
we would like to be left alone and we don't want any publicity
for our releases. If you are gamers and enjoy our releases please
do respect our will and our privacy. We trust that you are mature
adults and won't expose those who don't wish to be exposed.
If you love the scene (and the console scene among others) like you
say you should respect our wishes. If you were to ignore our request
we ask everyone that likes KALISTO to boycott ISONEWS a site that
earns money through publicity by exposing to everyone releases
that were only meant for private distribution on a few selected HQ's
| And remember to buy the games that are worth playing!
ps2wiz Aug 14, 2002, 11:36 AM Yeah Kalisto doesn't want other websites to publicaly distrubate their work. Prabally because they make money of it. And Kalisto doesn't get anything.
autopsy_iv Aug 14, 2002, 11:50 AM i did not get that they are leaving the scene....i gathered they just wanna try to stay low on the radar.....
ps2wiz Aug 14, 2002, 11:57 AM Well it's not like Kalisto sells back up's, is there even a law for distrubating back up's over the net?
bebrewer Aug 14, 2002, 12:10 PM I think Kalisto just doesn't want all the publicity outside the scene. ISONEWS is always happy to be in the public news media (because it helps their sponsors pay for more banner ads) and it just draws unwanted attention.
GreenLantern469 Aug 14, 2002, 01:19 PM like someone said. ISOnews is making money off Kalisto. Simple.. they don't want that and I can see where they are coming from.
Fadywwf316 Aug 14, 2002, 01:59 PM ok, heres a good question, now how do we know there releases? i remember they had filenames too so i can search for them, but now, i wont even know what games are bieng released, does anyone know if kalisto has its own release page?
autopsy_iv Aug 14, 2002, 02:31 PM there are plenty of irc channels....hell, isonews has always been so slow to show new releases that i have not used it in years....
Mystical_2K Aug 14, 2002, 03:10 PM yeh, for most of us it wont make a difference - the games will still be coming out
Nubs Aug 14, 2002, 05:19 PM i used my ts to check what games are released ne ways..
upur0 Aug 14, 2002, 05:38 PM Well it looks like www.************ are going to be hosting the KAL .nfo files.
here's part of the article:
In conclusion, we'd like to make it known that even if other iSO NEWS sites take heed of their ridiculous threats and remove KALiSTO .NFO files, we will begin posting them until KAL throws in the towel once and for all ;-)
Read the whole thing at www.************
ps2wiz Aug 14, 2002, 08:00 PM www.************? Please type the rest in.
arsh Aug 15, 2002, 03:55 AM He means www.ps2ownz. com
Read the article its pretty interesting. Personally I feel that that if Kalisto doesnt want to be publically exposed then let it be. PS2OWNZ are a bunch of fa*gets. They say that they will not adhere to Kalisto's demands and plan to host future Kalisto .NFO files. PS2ownz is just mad because kalisto doesnt share any dvd-rip information or reverse-engineering techniques with them. What do you guys think?
Nubs Aug 15, 2002, 08:02 AM | What happened to the REAL scene? There used to be a time when people |
actually cared about quality, instead we end are faced with bullshit
RIP KITS and 4CD rapes that get released 6 months after retail.
Aside from the 3 groups that actually contribute anything worthy to
this scene, the rest deserve NOTHING. Where is the competition?
Maybe it is best to quit now while were still enjoying it...
from kalistos nfo of Mat Hofman 2..:(
barracuda Aug 15, 2002, 06:06 PM I'm glad they did this. It seems like only isonews is the only one to stop posting the .nfo's. There are other sites out there...you just have to find them. Unfortunately, some aren't as easy to navigate as isonews, but you get used to it.
I was getting horribly sick of isonews' crazy pop-ups there for a while. Half the time you had to ctrl-alt-del to close the windows b/c the only option they give you was to "download now"....and I don't want that stupid web accelerator junk no matter how good it is supposed to work!
Hopefully, if all web-based news sites don't post the .nfo's, Direct Connect hubs will post the new releases automatically when you enter the hub...b/c IRC is way too difficult for some of us...OK, maybe just me. :D
Nubs Aug 15, 2002, 09:24 PM u still use dirrect connect ..hehe :D
konga123 Aug 16, 2002, 08:23 AM well good for Kalisto, I don't know why the other ripping groups is *****en about em:suspic:
Vyse Aug 17, 2002, 12:20 AM i think we should all repect kalisto's request on not to list their releases, its not like they get paid to do what they do, If you really wanted to know whats been going on in the latest releases you might as well go to the IRC channels. Just think of it this way, its better they go underground and not have their releases made public rather than have them not come out with releases all together.
what irc channels do you go to for release info?
Firstly, I would like to say that i have the utmost respect for Kalisto.
with that out of the way, I need to rant a little. Why is it a "Top Secret" Society of release groups that only know how to rip the games? why not share some of their secrets with the rest of us? Echelon gave the DC scene a huge boost when they relaesed their selfboot tutorial, why can't kalisto do the same(rip tips or something like that) yes, there are some tuts out, but the most i have seen are in German and French, and unless your fluent in either language or a super slueth then it's really a waste of time reading them. one i read was soo generic that it just went through the renaming of movie files or audio files. okay, given that is a start, bbut what about downsampleing audio or vids? it never mentions that. you have to search far and wide and waste half a spindle b4 you realise your foing everything azz backwards.( i know i did) yws there are some releases that get released ahead of schedule, but then there are that are months behind. the groups are the only alternative that some of us have, some of us don't have dvd burners and modchips i'd wager that the majority of us don't, so we need one or the other... rips that suit the commoner or professional tutorials to rip the dvd releases. seems the dvd releases are the only ones that are coming on a consistent basis anyway. sorry to anyone that red this rant, guess i'm just mad that i couldn't get a preview of Madden 2003 or NFL2K3 COMMENTARY OR NO, I WOULD HAVE GIVEN MY FIRST BORN FOR IT ! (figure of speech, the wife would kill me)
in closing, I hopw the groups think about who the scene really is compiled of, yeah they have all the respect, but who are they getting it from? and if they start to neglect the people that give them praise then why do it at all if they don't want the recognition? are they competing with the other groups to see who has the cleaner rips? if that so then i'm sure that people will still download subpar rips , they would just do it with the hopws of a following patch or repack. it would be a pain, but people would have no other choice.
TreFacTor Aug 17, 2002, 09:48 AM well, now i know why they didn't do NFL2K3... the image is 3.53gb, largest files:
game.dat 2.25gb
lines.bin 882mb
players.bin 100.39mb
intromovie 102.98mb
femusic.bin 77.5mb
but that doesn't explain why they couldn't do madden 2003 1.34gb???
Vyse Aug 17, 2002, 11:11 AM what i meant was that like lets say you are looking for a certain game but youre not sure they released it yet, just go and see if anyone is servin them out.
xoutlawx Aug 17, 2002, 04:07 PM I respect their decision. After all like someone said, they arent gettin anything out of it.
arsh Aug 18, 2002, 03:15 AM When a new game is released then most of the topics of the channels will be the game. For example, the topic on most channels right now is the latest releases (street hoops, ncaa, nfl blitz)
CousinFizz Aug 18, 2002, 03:29 AM I wouldn't be to concerned about it they have their reasons so lets leave it at that..... ;)
