I currently have NTL broadband installed, but I only have it downstairs on the main PC. What I want to know is if there is any way to split the fibre optic line so that I can have another line upstairs without having to re-subscribe to NTL. I know it would involve buying another modem. Basically the line goes round the back of the house and into the room, couldn't it just be split (not literally) into two lines, one of which goes downstairs and the other upstairs? Would NTL do this or would I have to get an electrician or what? Thanks
:p

If your using it in the same house why not just network the pC's?

Yeah, make a network and share the connection. Much cheaper, better, easier, and simpler.
Even if you can do what you describe above, only ONE computer will be allowed to connect, not both at the same time.

I had thought about that but would that work between upstairs and downstairs? Wouldn't it require a cable connection between the two, only i don't fancy drilling holes through my ceiling much tho....

You can get wireless.
I, personally, use phoneline networking and it's great. Not as mobile as wireless, but it's much faster.

You can't have 2 cable modems because the mac address will be different for the 2nd one and will not be registered by ntl.

Your only other option is by network, u can buy a wireless network kit for £89.99 from Argos...:round:

OK. I just thought, I also have a PSION goldcard lying around, is that any use? Also, Gram2 can you use that wireless one through rooms and with cable connections?
